How to edit your post
In Edit post you can change the words (in the panel or right on the post), move the text and the drawing, pick another layout, and set your signature and caption. Every change is saved automatically.
Before you start
- On the Free plan you can change a post's words and drawing only on the day you made it. After that you can still move and resize them, change the layout, signature and caption (see What the Free plan includes).
Steps
Text tab
- Edit the words in Quote. Press Enter to break a line where you want it (HueInk then switches Line breaks to Mine). You can also type extra spaces before a word to push it to the next line, as in a word processor.
- Text size: leave Auto to fit the space, or move the slider.
- Align: Centre or Left.
Write right on the post
- Double-click the text on the post (or click it and press Enter) and type. The words appear where they will be, in your post's font. Press Esc or click outside when you are done.
- Double-click the signature to change it the same way. Press Enter once for a second line; press Enter again (or Esc) when you are done. This changes the signature of this post only.
Move things on the post
- Drag the text, the drawing or the signature on the preview to move it. They snap to the centre and the margins.
- Click the text, the drawing or the signature, then drag one of its corners to make it bigger or smaller. Resizing the text keeps its line breaks and changes the Text size (click Auto to let it fit the space again).
- To rotate: click the text, the drawing or the signature and drag the small dot on its stem. It clicks into place at 0°, 45° and 90°.
- To deselect, click an empty part of the post, anywhere outside it, or press Esc.
- With the keyboard: click the text, drawing or signature, then use the arrow keys to move it and [ or ] to rotate it by 5° (hold Shift for bigger steps).
Layout tab
- Click one of the five layouts. Things you moved by hand stay where you put them.
- Click Reset to layout to put everything back, the signature and any rotation included.
Brand and caption (right side; on a phone, the Brand tab)
- Change the Signature for this post, choose the Signature corner, or tick No signature on this post. Choosing a corner puts a signature you moved by hand back in that corner, at its normal size.
- Check the Instagram caption. HueInk fills it in for you: the post text (with the dashes of a dialogue) and your hashtag set from Brand kit. While you have not changed it, it follows your text. Edit it freely; Rebuild from text makes it again from the current words. Click Copy caption to copy it. Your first comment from Brand kit is shown under it.
- Click Add to calendar, pick a day and click Save. Planned posts show up in Today on that day.
- Don't need the post? Click Delete post at the bottom, then confirm. This cannot be undone.
Tip: Changed your mind? Use the Undo and Redo arrows at the top (or Ctrl/Cmd+Z).
What to expect
The preview is exactly what you will download. The note at the top says Saving…, Saved or Not saved. Your last change is also saved when you leave the page or switch apps. On a phone, the post stays at the top of the screen while you scroll the controls.
If something goes wrong
- "Not saved · retrying" — you seem to be offline. Keep the page open: HueInk tries again on its own and as soon as you are back online. Click Save now to try at once.
- Text and drawing overlap — HueInk keeps them apart on its own (it makes the text box or the drawing smaller, and moves long texts out of a narrow side column). If you moved one of them yourself, drag it back, make the drawing smaller, or click Reset to layout.
- "The illustration couldn't load" — a message on the preview means the drawing did not arrive (usually a weak connection). Click Retry. Downloads wait until the drawing is there, so you never get an image without it.
