How to make carousels and Reels
Put several posts into one swipeable carousel, or turn a post into a short Reel where the drawing appears and the text writes itself.
Before you start
- Pro or Studio, or the Carousels & Reels add-on if you bought HueInk once. Without it, the page shows what it includes. On the Free plan you can try it with the 7-day Pro trial (see How to start your 7-day Pro trial).
- For a Reel: at least one post. For a carousel: a series, 2 or more posts, or a few quotes you type.
Make a carousel
- Open Carousels & Reels (hueink.com/app/carousels), or click Make a carousel or Reel in the editor.
- Under Choose the slides, pick where the slides come from:
- A series: posts you made together as a series, in their order.
- My posts: tap 2 to 10 posts in the order you want them. The number on each one shows its place.
- Type quotes: write 2 to 10 short lines in your own words, one per line. Leave Add drawings from the library on to give each slide a drawing.
- Under Cover and end slide:
- Type a Cover title. It appears big on the first slide.
- Keep Swipe arrow on the cover on to add a small arrow. You can write a word next to it, or clear the box for the arrow only.
- Type the End slide line (for example "Follow for more") and your Handle.
- Keep Number the slides on to add "1/6", "2/6"… in the corner.
- Check the preview, then click Download slides (ZIP).
- In Instagram, create a new post, choose several photos and select the images in the order of their file names (01, 02, 03…). The file caption.txt has the texts if you want them in your caption.
Make a Reel
- Open Carousels & Reels and click Reel.
- Tap the post you want.
- Choose a Design (Text on top or Drawing on top) and a Length from 6 to 10 seconds.
- Click Play preview to watch it.
- Click Record Reel and keep the tab open. Recording takes as long as the Reel.
- When it's ready, watch it on the page, then click Download MP4 (or Download WEBM, see below).
- In Instagram, create a new Reel, choose the video and add music if you like.
What to expect
- Carousel slides are 1080 × 1350 PNG images: a cover, your posts, and an end slide with your handle.
- Reels are 1080 × 1920 videos with no sound. The drawing fades in, the text appears line by line as if written by hand, then your signature appears and the finished design stays on screen for a moment.
- Everything is made on your device, so it doesn't use your daily limits.
If something goes wrong
- The page says "Part of Carousels & Reels" — your account doesn't have the add-on yet. If you bought it, sign in with the email from your receipt.
- The page says "… come with Pro" — your plan is Free or Creator. Click Start 7-day Pro trial (Free accounts, once) or See plans.
- The download button is greyed out — a carousel needs 2 to 10 slides. Add or remove some.
- The Reel downloaded as WEBM and Instagram won't take it — your browser can't save MP4 videos. Record it again in the latest Chrome, Edge or Safari, which save MP4.
- "This browser cannot record video" — use the latest Chrome, Edge or Safari on a computer or phone.
- The Reel looks jumpy — close other tabs and record again, and keep the HueInk tab in front while it records.
